In this ad for Chlorinol two black children hold up the product under the sail of their boat. A sign above them reads, “We are going to use Chlorinol and be like de white nigger.” The sign refers to a third, lighter-skinned child in the boat. The advertisement affirms the view that blackness is dirty and less desirable than whiteness.
