A Lucky Escape, 1969

This post was originally published on this site

Uncle Luther and Aunt Vera never made it to the UP that spring. Their trip was cut short when Luther dropped his cigarette and lurched in the seat to avoid getting burned. This caused the car to fishtail with the heavy trailer attached. Harold over-corrected and flipped the car. Fortunately Vera insisted they wear the lap-belts which kept them from getting too banged up. The Michigan State Police were very friendly. Luther says he’s going to buy an International Harvester Travelall for next year’s trip.
