In the 1960s, the economy of Sweden was booming, standard of living was going through the roof, and people had the highest GDP per capita in the world. And, of coures, the ’60s were in full swing, although just as in many countries, it was mainly swung by a few dozen people in the capital, with drugs and rock ’n’ roll and considerably less sex than some foreigners seems to have believed. But the general feeling was that old authorities were crumbling, people were freer than ever before, the opportunities were boundless, and technology would solve everything.
State ownership was not noticeably more wide-spread in Sweden than in any other Western European country at the time. Maybe a little bit more than in West Germany, but less than in the UK, France, or Austria.
