On June 19, 1963, Ringo Starr played a Ludwig drum kit for the first time. The show was at the Playhouse Theatre, London.
Ringo said he bought the kit because it was American and he loved all things American. When the store salesman started to rip off the Ludwig label, Ringo stopped him. He wanted “Ludwig” to stay on the drums to show it was an American made drum kit.
