In the film, Marilyn plays a wife and mother who competes in beauty pageants as Mrs. Mississippi against her husband’s wishes. After finding out their marriage was performed by a non-ordained minister, he is relieved, only until he finds out that means she can compete for the Miss Mississippi title, which she wins. By the end, they’re officially married.
