Dolores Hawkins’ lovely face was instantly recognizable to magazine readers during her long career; one that ran from 1952 until she married Stuart Phelps in 1966. After her marriage, Dolores modeled off and on until the mid-1970s.

Dolores’s career was unusually successful; she smoothly made the transition from teen model, appearing on covers of Seventeen, Glamour, Charm & Mademoiselle, to McCall’s, Redbook, Pageant, Bride, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, as well as covers of foreign magazines. Dolores worked throughout Europe and other countries during her prolific modeling career and was also a staple in TV commercials during the 1950s and ’60s.
