Girl Exhibits Safety Gadgets, 1939

Denore Dolin prepared herself for all sorts of emergencies by wearing some of the safety devices exhibited at a safety show in New York City, 1939. Around her neck was a felt filter respirator. A transparent mask protected her face. Steel plating encased her shins and feet. The toe-guards, capable of withstanding a falling three hundred pound object, were used by workers in ice plants and steel mills.
