Christmas With ABBA, 1972

In March 1972, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson released the song “People Need Love,” featuring Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad on vocals. It was their first collaborative single, hinting at the harmonized pop sound that would define ABBA.

The group wasn’t officially known as “ABBA” in 1972; they were still performing as individual artists or as “Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Anni-Frid.” The name ABBA, derived from the first letters of their names, was adopted in 1973.

Here, four members of ABBA do a photo shoot for the Vecko-Revyn magazine for their Christmas issue, December 1972. The shoot takes place at Björn and Agnetha’s flat.
