Designed initially as a four-door sedan, the one-of-a-kind 1951 Studebaker Woody showcases an extraordinary custom transformation that reimagines American automotive design. This remarkable vehicle began as an unfinished project from the collection of Joe MacPherson before being acquired by notable collector Dennis Varni.

The car underwent extensive modification, transitioning from a standard sedan to a fastback woodie configuration based on Thom Taylor’s design concepts. The top received a 2.5-inch chop, while the rear fenders were extended 18 inches and fitted with custom taillight assemblies. The front end features distinctive 1937 Ford headlights, creating a unique aesthetic blend.
Under the hood lies a Ford 427 FE engine equipped with an exceptionally rare Propulsion Development Laboratories fuel injection system—a prototype previously featured on Hot Rod magazine’s 1959 cover. The interior boasts custom bucket seats upholstered in tan leather with gray fur inserts, complemented by restored factory gauges and a reproduction 1954 Studebaker steering wheel.
